Welcome to My Personal Page
Hello friends and family,
My name is Alicia Young and I am currently a freshmen catcher for the UND softball team. I am from Lakeville, Minnesota and am majoring in Occupational Therapy. Having my first semester at UND already over is crazy, man does time fly by fast. Being a part of the softball team at UND is one of the most rewarding things. From the first time I stepped on the field when I was a little girl I knew this was the sport I wanted to play in college. I remember hearing stories about my mom and how she couldn't play anymore and it broke my heart. My mom always pushed me to do my best and I always looked up to her when it came to softball. Softball has taught me so much about myself and about others. Last year, I lost one of my friends in a car accident that played baseball. We were close friends when we were younger. One thing that always stuck with me was his willpower, he would do everything he could to be the best athlete and friend to his teammates. I saw that everyday at the gym because we worked out at the same place. It has stuck with me ever since, everything I do is to become a better athlete and friend to my teammates. Another point this brings me to, ever since I've played softball I have been number 11, but since the accident that changed. Losing a friend is one of the hardest things but for UND softball I will now be wearing number 25 in memory of my friend that passed away. Softball is a very mentally and physically challenging sport and I love every second of it. My team and I have been working so hard the past 5 months to be the best athletes and students we can be. Everyday someone on the team is doing something extra whether that be hititng, fielding, lifting or even running. Our team wants to win a championship and everyone on this team has the heart and will power to do it. This isn't just a team, we have created a family. It is like having 22 sisters that are always there for you. North Dakota has become home to me and I love every second of it. We as a team have done a lot of stuff for our community. One of the most rewarding things for me was the Special Olympics, seeing the look on their faces when they got a strike or spare was so heart warming. It's not about what you do for yourself it's about what you can do for others around you and your community. I have been blessed with 22 amazing teammates that push me everyday, not only on the softball field but in school as well. We have an amazing opportunity to travel all over this year, some places like California, Florida and even South Carolina. Due to the weather in North Dakota this causes our team to have to travel a lot to play the best competition that we can. With this being said, we are looking to raise money to help with traveling funds, equipment, secure scholarship money, and to help renovate our locker room. UND softball is beginning to rise and I feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful team. My individual goal is to raise $435 and anything helps! Do not feel obligated to donate but if it is something that you are interested in doing, please use the "donate now" link. Thank you so much for all of your support and in the future. We would not be where we are without you guys. Happy Holidays
